Writing a report
Your report should communicate clearly and effectively
It is an assessment task and a document for a wider audience, eg potential employers
Remember these purposes
It should systematically convey information and evaluation to the reader
It should be based on well evidenced research
It will draw conclusions
Students need to produce an industry report, highlighting their own research done on the industry, their understanding of trends and their suitability.
This report will showcase student’s professionalism based on the combined learning of the last 3 years and be potentially presentable to future employers.
It should be underpinned with academic references and research.
Marking criteria for report:
Extend to which you have researched the chosen industry, providing data accordingly
Extend to which you demonstrated that you understand the industry and its trend
Extend to which you understand your suitability to the industry
Extend to which you have presented the report professionally
Extend to which you evidenced appropriate academic writing and referencing
Demonstrating professionalism through producing a report
Finding and analysing reliable and up-to–date data
Writing for an audience
Report writing and referencing
Editing and proof reading
Your report MUST be based on the best data available
Your data must be:
Reliable and relevant
As current as possible
A report is always ‘evidenced based’
Simply but beautifully presented
A clear style, with correct English grammar and spelling
Headings for each section
Sections divided into numbered paragraphs
Written objectively (unless a reflective report)
Word processed using Times New Roman or Ariel font, size 12.
Numbered pages, with a header or footer.
Proof read and edited
Bound, with a front page
